CNC Training Centre Reviews

Matsuura Machinery, a Japanese leader since 1935, produces some of the world’s most precise and reliable machining centres — from high-speed 5-axis vertical models like the MX-520 and MAM72 series to multi-pallet horizontal powerhouses in the H.Plus range.

Onsite Matsuura CNC Training

The first CNC machines I ever worked on were Matsuura 500v and 750v. The 500’s were just a one line display, like a calculator. Incredibly reliable and so solid.

It’s a bit like your first partner you never forget them. Mine dumped me for someone better looking and more money but that’s another story.

Where did he get those glasses

Even the best hardware needs skilled operators and programmers to deliver peak efficiency, reduced cycle times, and flawless parts. That’s where CNC Training Centre comes in.

We specialise in onsite Matsuura CNC training, bringing our instructor directly to your workshop in the UK (and beyond). No travel downtime for your team, no disruption to production schedules — we work around your shifts and focus on your specific machines, parts, and challenges.

Why Choose Onsite Training for Your Matsuura Machines?

  • Zero Travel for Your Operators — Trainer comes to you, saving time and travel costs while keeping your team on-site and productive.
  • Tailored to Your Setup — Training is customised to your exact Matsuura models (MX series, MAM72-35V/52V/63V, H.Plus horizontals, multi-tasking centres, and more), controls, tooling, and typical workpieces.
  • Hands-On & Practical — Real-world scenarios using your machine: safe operation, advanced programming, tool-path optimisation, setup reduction, and unmanned running where applicable.
  • Boost Productivity Immediately — Address bad habits, unlock hidden machine capabilities, and implement best practices that can dramatically improve output and quality.
  • All Levels Covered — From beginners needing operator basics to experienced staff wanting advanced 5-axis simultaneous machining, probing, macros, or lights-out optimisation.

Whether you’re running high-mix/low-volume prototyping on an MX-330 or demanding continuous 72-hour production on a MAM72 pallet-changer, our onsite courses get your team up to speed fast — often spotting quick wins that pay for the training in weeks.

What Our Onsite Matsuura CNC Training Includes

  • Safe machine operation
  • Control familiarisation (Matsuura G-Tech, Fanuc-based, Yasnac, etc.)
  • Programming fundamentals through to advanced techniques
  • Workholding, fixturing, and pallet management
  • Cycle time reduction and efficiency
  • Troubleshooting programming errors

Past clients have seen significant improvements in setup times, reduced scrap, and better machine utilisation after our focused onsite sessions.

New CNC Machines

Before you buy any new CNC machines or computer systems checkout what you already have you might be surprised at what you can do. Breath life into the old beast.

Before buying New CNC Machines is there more you can do with the old one.

Investment

About 10 years ago my big gripe with companies when looking at increasing productivity and improving production methods, was that there was little investment in new technologies.

New CNC Machines represent a massive investment
Mazak Integrex Lathe

Now You Have New Machines

I think that now things are a bit different companies have invested in New CNC Machines and computer systems, although there is still room for improvement. Being the grumpy old ageing failed rock star that I am, my moan now is that the technologies that people have invested in are not being used to their maximum capabilities.

Bright Ideas

These are some of my suggestions and your MD will love the fact that they all cost little or no money:

  • Read the manuals on your CNC machine just the first few pages (not the boring health and safety shit, the next bit) bet you will learn something you didn’t know.

  • Now, about that probe in the carousel (covered in swarf, shit and coolant) that no one knows how to use. Learn to use it. Come on now there are loads of idiots like me posting free videos on this stuff. Once you use one I will guarantee your life will never be the same.

  • Check out the settings on your Haas machine (I can always get people excited about what these can do) look at the Haas tips n tricks page on their website. You will learn loads of stuff to impress your mates, not at the pub though please.

  • Make sure you are using the latest version of Edgecam (or your chosen CAM system). Edgecam and all software is evolving rapidly and you could be really missing out. If you have a software maintenance contract then you’re pouring money down the drain by not using the support.

  • Try to make a point of learning something new every day. (I am 86 and I still do) write them all in a book so you can look back and use your ideas.

That’s Not All

Check out the options on your machine. Maybe you have some really cool options you didn’t even know about. Might even be worth shelling out a few quid to buy some extras.

  • Rigid tapping.
  • Through spindle coolant.
  • Higher RPM.
  • Macro B.
  • Peck Tapping.
  • Extended work offsets.
  • Extra editing functions.

Oh and There’s More

If you really want to spend money I can help you with this I’ve already spent nearly all of mine. .

  1. Consider buying a touch probe, they save hours in setting time.
  2. Auto tool measurement probes can be used to set tools automatically. You will also be able to do in program checks for tool breakage etc.
  3. Add Macro B to your Haas or Fanuc control for loads of extra features.
  4. Add a speeder unit to increase maximum RPM.
  5. Consider adding a 4th axis to your vertical machining centre this will give loads of extra capacity and flexibility. Not cheap but well worth it.

30 five star ratings on Google (just saying)
1. Tailored to your specific needs
Onsite training is not a one-size-fits-all program. With 30 years experience we can assess your team’s skill level and your shop’s particular applications to create a custom curriculum. This might include:
  • Targeted conversational programming: Hurco invented conversational programming, which makes it easier to go from design to finished part. A trainer can focus on the conversational blocks and features most relevant to your specific products.
  • G-code and CAM integration: For shops that blend conversational and G-code programming, onsite training can address the intricacies of integrating existing CAM software and NC programs with the Hurco WinMax control.
  • Advanced techniques: If you have existing Hurco users, training can focus on more advanced subjects like 5-axis conversational programming, solid model import, or probing routines.

Hurco machining centre training

2. Learn on your own equipment
An onsite program means your team trains on the very machines they use every day, including your specific VMX series or other models. This eliminates the need for familiarisation time after the course is over and ensures that operators understand the full capabilities and limitations of their own equipment.
3. Minimal disruption and travel costs
Sending multiple employees offsite for training can be costly and disruptive. Onsite training eliminates travel, and hotel cost. The training schedule can be more flexible, allowing you to minimise the impact on your production schedule.
4. Promotes teamwork and efficiency
Training as a team encourages collaboration and creates a consistent knowledge base across your staff. Everyone learns the same best practices and gains a shared understanding of how to maximise your Hurco’s potential. This enhanced team cohesion leads to more streamlined processes and greater overall productivity.
5. Immediate application and feedback
Because the training happens on your own shop floor, trainees can apply what they learn immediately to real-world tasks. The instructor can use your specific parts and applications as examples, and the immediate context ensures a higher retention of information. This also allows for on-the-spot troubleshooting and questions related to your unique challenges.
