Hurco Converting MM to Inches

Hurco Converting MM to Inches

Hurco Converting MM to Inches, they say in life it’s the little things that matter. Well it’s an interesting thought. Doesn’t bode well with the bank manager when you only have 10 quid in your account but then that’s another story.

Anyway here is a little thing about a Hurco control that is really useful. One of the things I always teach my pupils, or victims as they are sometimes called is this.

Always let the computer do the simple maths, us humans are basically shit at maths especially when we do it in our heads. So when the CNC Control offers to help out, let it do it.

Above I am creating a tool and it’s a 3/16 inch endmill. First of all I’m going to change to inches. I click that little button MM down the bottom there.

Yes MM that’s little beast.

Hurco Converting MM to Inches, you will now get a warning

Imagine it’s the wife and just ignore it, well say YES, you know like you always do.

Your display will now turn to inches by complete magic. Your ok this is not a F****, the control is not about to simultaneously destruct.

Everything just went to inches. So exciting, I mean really it’s no big deal but if you are used to other controls then I’m afraid it fuckin is a big deal.

Now just type in 3/16 and press ENTER

Guess what it came up with 0.1875 wow wow wow.

Just one other thing, Press the INCH button, and it goes back to MM.

And it’s back to MM

Hurco Converting MM to Inches

Soooo 3/16 of an inch is 4.762 mm

Hurco Converting MM to Inches, no brain power used.

Now all you old school types are saying “when I was a boy we didn’t have calculators. I say “shut the Fuck up cos now we do”

Listen folks in my school we only had one fuckin abacus and that was kept in a vault and only got it out on a bank holiday.

The point of this is that you don’t make any silly mistakes.

Use for every calculation plus, minus, divide everything.

If you have been offended in anyway by this article please accept my appologies as I’m in a foul mood. The dog has shit in my sandwich box again.

Unleash the full potential of your shop with onsite Hurco training

Investing in Hurco machinery is a smart business decision, but to truly maximise your return, your team needs the right expertise. While Hurco’s WinMax control is celebrated for its intuitive conversational programming, unlocking its full power and advanced features requires specialised training.

Old and Young All Welcome

I recently worked on a 15 year old Hurco and it’s striking how advanced this control always was. When you are from a G code background you are almost looking for the catch because it is so simple.
The CNC Training Centre can come onsite and conduct your Hurco Training. Unlock the hidden features. Technology is often underused and proper training will unlock these extra powers.
Hurco Training
Our expert-led, onsite Hurco training brings knowledge directly to your shop floor, offering advantages that standard classroom training may not provide.

The power of onsite Hurco training

Onsite training allows your team to learn on the specific Hurco machines they use daily. This approach ensures that operators understand the capabilities of your equipment without needing to adjust to different machines.
Training is customised to your team’s skill level and your applications.
Covering conversational programming, integrating G-code or CAM software.
Advanced techniques like 5-axis programming or solid model import.

Training Brought To You

Bringing the training to your location minimises disruption and costs associated with off-site training.
Trainees can apply new skills immediately using your parts and applications, receiving relevant feedback. This leads to fewer errors, reduced waste, and improved production quality.
Training teams together fosters consistent knowledge and best practices, enhancing teamwork and productivity.

Invest in your profitability

Proper training is a strategic investment that improves machine utilisation and productivity.
Onsite Hurco training gives your team the skills to optimise your machinery, speeding up the process from design to finished part.
Contact us today to discuss a customised onsite training plan and maximise the potential of your Hurco machines.

1. Tailored to your specific needs
Onsite training is not a one-size-fits-all program. With 30 years experience we can assess your team’s skill level and your shop’s particular applications to create a custom curriculum. This might include:
  • Targeted conversational programming: Hurco invented conversational programming, which makes it easier to go from design to finished part. A trainer can focus on the conversational blocks and features most relevant to your specific products.
  • G-code and CAM integration: For shops that blend conversational and G-code programming, onsite training can address the intricacies of integrating existing CAM software and NC programs with the Hurco WinMax control.
  • Advanced techniques: If you have existing Hurco users, training can focus on more advanced subjects like 5-axis conversational programming, solid model import, or probing routines.

2. Learn on your own equipment
An onsite program means your team trains on the very machines they use every day, including your specific VMX series or other models. This eliminates the need for familiarisation time after the course is over and ensures that operators understand the full capabilities and limitations of their own equipment.
3. Minimal disruption and travel costs
Sending multiple employees offsite for training can be costly and disruptive. Onsite training eliminates travel, and hotel cost. The training schedule can be more flexible, allowing you to minimise the impact on your production schedule.
4. Promotes teamwork and efficiency
Training as a team encourages collaboration and creates a consistent knowledge base across your staff. Everyone learns the same best practices and gains a shared understanding of how to maximise your Hurco’s potential. This enhanced team cohesion leads to more streamlined processes and greater overall productivity.
5. Immediate application and feedback
Because the training happens on your own shop floor, trainees can apply what they learn immediately to real-world tasks. The instructor can use your specific parts and applications as examples, and the immediate context ensures a higher retention of information. This also allows for on-the-spot troubleshooting and questions related to your unique challenges.
